An Opposing View-Point

I like Bush because he is "real." He has his viewpoints and is not afraid to state them. Gore on the other hand changes his views depending on who he talks to (in other words he lies to people to get votes). That's a *really* bad thing in my book. I like to see people that aren't afraid of saying something for fear of pissing someone off.

Sure he's a Christian and would probably support Christian programs, but I don't really care. As long as the government doesn't force me to go to a Christian church or put me in jail for my views I'm happy. About the "what would Jesus do?" thing: Jesus (from what I've read) was actually a good man regardless of if he's the son of god or not, so trying to be like him is not really bad (it's sure better than trying to be like some pro football player or something). btw, I'm atheist if you care.

A small recommendation: don't automatically hate someone because they say they are "conservative." The party system is really fucked up and meaningless. I couldn't care less what party a person is associated with, I care about what their personal views are and how strong they are (IE, how much they'll fight for their views and how much they'll let their decisions be influenced by things like money).

Counter-Point

Brain, thank you for sharing your views. This is just barely an opposing view-point, since I agree with you on most of your statements. I have to agree with you that Bush really does believe everything he says and that he will not let that be influenced by money or any other incentive. I also agree that biblically, Jesus was a good person with good ideas who taught peace and understanding. In that aspect, asking "What would Jesus do" would not be a bad thing. That was probably a bad analogy on my part. I don't think there really is an accurate analogy to voice my concerns. My concerns are over how Bush has stated that all his decisions will be based on the moral structure of very conservative people ( Source: http://www.georgebush.com/issues.asp ), which will fare badly for the large amount of liberal people in America.

But that is just an opinion. And it is also the only thing that I disagree with you over. Gore changes his opinions, albeit gradually, to meet the want of the public. I just personally believe that Gore would probably be better in the long run then Bush. That doesn't mean I recommend Gore as the next president, but I just think he is the better choice of the two. That really is just a judgment call that everyone will feel differently about. Thank you for sending in your opinions.
